COQUITO O’CLOCK

by Michelle

My father is from Puerto Rico, where they make the best holiday drink ever created: coquito. Meaning “little coconut,” coquito is basically the love-child of piña colada (also created by the magical Puerto Ricans) — sans the piña — and eggnog. It’s sinful and delicious, and everyone should drink it.

My friend Gustavo — also a Puerto Rican native — has the BEST coquito recipe. He hoarded it for a while before sharing it with me, and now I’m giving it to the masses *evil laughter*. It’s incredibly easy to make and an indisputable crowd-pleaser. Starting on Thanksgiving, it’s always coquito o’clock at Gustavo’s house, which is why we’re still friends nearly 17 years after meeting at our law school’s admitted students reception in 2003.

Enjoy!
