THE KIDS’ FASHION EDIT

by Michelle

This is my first kid style edit, and I honestly found it quite difficult, as there’s so much good stuff out there. To cut it down to a manageable edit, I decided to only focus on stores that I shop at regularly, highlighting my favorite among the current inventory. Also, I don’t spend a ton of money on my kids’ clothing, and I don’t think you need to spend a ton in order to find great items for your kiddos, so I tried to also focus on more affordable items. Even though I edited it down quite a bit, this is still a lot of stuff. Enjoy!

H&M

I find it really difficult to navigate the H&M website at times because they have such a vast inventory, but I did it for you guys. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their current baby stuff; it’s very Rylee + Cru at a much lower price point. Note that Baby/Toddler and Toddler/Kid Sizes overlap at H&M, so I broke them up between clothes sized for babies/toddler and those sized for toddlers/kids, so if you have a toddler there will be items in both section for you.

ZARA

As you know, this blog is often a love letter to Zara, and this kid edit is no exception. The clothes are so good, and the quality is pretty wonderful for the price point. TThis section is going to be the biggest section of the edit because the items currently available are just that good. To make it easier to navigate, I’ll sort by gender and age.

Baby/Toddler Girl (to 5 years):

Baby/Toddler Boy (to 5 years):

Older Girls (6 years and over):

Older Boys (6 years and over):

JANIE AND JACK

So, regularly-priced Janie and Jack is more than I want to spend on my kids, which is why I always buy everything on sale. Sometimes the sale prices can be really insane, and nearly comparable to Target or other inexpensive brands. Also, there will be a Friend & Family Event starting on Friday, with 25% off (with exclusions). Here are my favorite current sale items. Many of these are available in baby, toddler and kid sizes so didn’t differentiate here.

TARGET

There are specific clothing lines at Target that I love for kids, so I’m going to discuss them each individually.

OshKosh B’gosh

Osh Kosh — which was called Genuine by Osh Kosh when my daughter was a toddler — was my FAVORITE Target-carried when my daughter was younger. It only carries toddler sizes to 5T, and I wanted to cry when my daughter no longer could wear the brand. Items are equal parts trendy and cute. Here are my favorite items for girls and boys:

Art Class

So Art Class is the Target hipster/boho kid brand. I’ve gotten a bunch of stuff from them for both kids. The quality is good enough, but it’s also super inexpensive and works for me because my son doesn’t really inherit many outfits from my daughter.

Cat and Jack

Cat and Jack is my GO TO line for boy clothes. I particularly love all of the bottoms (e.g., sweatpants, denim, shorts) and the thermal henleys for cooler months. For girls, I love the t-shirts and leggings. In addition, there’s always a few things per season that are just lovely and on-trend. I just bought my daughter the CUTEST yellow cotton dress and I cannot wait for her to wear it on vacation.

GAP

Gap Baby and Gap Toddler are the bomb dot com (and I’m obviously drinking wine as I finish this up). I find Gap Kids a bit more hit-and-miss, but when it’s good, it’s really good, so I alway check them out. They also REGULARLY have insane deals. Right now it’s 40% off everything (PROMO CODE SHOP40) plus an extra 10% off (PROMO CODE TREAT), so hopefully you find something you like below.
